Throwing the grenade.
The Stun Grenade, while it cannot cause any damage to zombies, stuns them. After being thrown, a few seconds later the grenade will explode and emit a flash stopping any zombie that is in it's radius or is looking at it. They will stop walking, letting you escape or hit them while they are vulnerable. However, the grenade can also flash you if you look at it, making your screen white until it fades away.
